Citizens Advice Bureau – The Bureau provides detailed information on many aspects of housing law.

Shelter – This organisation provides advice regarding homelessness, finding a place to live, renting, and leasehold, eviction and repossession issues.

GOV.UK – This government site details the legal obligations and rights when renting, buying or owning a home, plus information on Council Tax, what to do if you are homeless and where to get help if you have a housing dispute. It specifically covers tenancy agreements, deposit schemes and eviction, neighbour problems, council tax bands, arrears, appeals and Council Tax Benefit. It also covers council and housing association housing, sheltered housing, repossession, squatters and emergency housing.

Leasehold Advisory Service – This is a Non Departmental Public Body funded by the Government which provides free advice on the law affecting residential leasehold property in England and Wales. It advises on issues including service charges, extending your lease, buying your freehold, right to manage and applying to the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal.

National Landlords Association (NLA) – The Association represents the interest of UK landlords. The site provides an online library service covering many topics. These include Starting up including using an agent, the Regulatory Regime including civil and criminal law, licensing HMOs and energy efficiency. Its Tenancy section includes types of tenancies, rent, tenancy deposits.The Safety section includes Housing, Health and the Safety Rating System. Finance covers tax, record-keeping, mortgages. It also offers a telephone advice line, courses and a range of materials.

LandlordZone – This is a portal web site for landlords involved in letting property. It provides free access to information and resources to residential and commercial landlords, tenants, letting agents, property managers and other property professionals. It includes a legal section which provides information on residential tenancies, commercial tenancies, landlord and tenant law, letting regulations, health and safety, dispute resolution and possession & eviction.

Tenancy Agreement Service-  This site is a legal information resource providing information on aspects of housing law in England and Wales. It focuses primarily on the obligations and rights of landlords and tenants in Assured Shorthold Tenancy agreements such as complying with relevant Gas, Fire and Electrical Safety Legislation, the correct steps to be followed when applying a Rent Increase, Landlord and Tenant Repairing Obligations  etc.

Dilapidations Direct – This site run by a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors provides advise on ‘dilapidation’ for both tenants and landlords. It has a legislation section which lists the relevant Acts as well as a case law section.
